Sigiriya is a rock rising 200 metres above the jungle, crowned by a 5th-century royal citadel. The ascent reveals world-famous celestial maiden frescoes, enormous lion-paw gateway remains and a once mirror-polished wall. The panorama from the summit is breathtaking.
