Minneriya National Park is famous for The Gathering, one of Asia’s greatest wildlife spectacles, when hundreds of wild elephants converge around the ancient Minneriya Tank between July and October. Set amid archaeological landscapes and forest-rimmed reservoirs, the park also shelters deer, macaques and rare hornbills.
